“Focus on Commentating”- Max Verstappen Responds to Contract Rumors!

Rohan Singh

Max Verstappen talks about his future with Red Bull Racing in a catastrophic season.

Max Verstappen has been the talk of the town since the start of the 2025 season. The four-time world champion is facing an incredibly slow performance at Red Bull Racing this year. The Dutchman has been unable to keep up with the front of the pack since the start of the season. Red Bull’s inability to compete with McLaren in the previous year ended up becoming their disaster in 2025.

In four races, Red Bull Racing has only scored double points once. They had to undergo yet another controversial mid-season driver changes in order to make it happen. As for Verstappen, he has two podiums including one victory in the first four races. But do not let the numbers fool you, Max has made it very clear that he does not like his car one bit. Every weekend, Max Verstappen is found complaining about some or other issue affecting his speed in the car.

The Bahrain GP was arguably one of his worst races this season. He was unable to fight back properly against Pierre Gasly for the sixth position in the majority of the race. At one point, he was in 20th place. And as if nothing else could go wrong, his team ruined two of his pitstops. The entire Bahrain GP witnessed the proof of Red Bull’s downfall this season.

Max Verstappen Answers the Media About His Future at Red Bull Racing

The media and F1 community have blown Red Bull’s troubles out of proportion in the past few races. Many experts are speculating that Max Verstappen is not going to finish his contract. The Dutch lion is contracted with Red Bull until 2028. He is also the highest paid driver on the grid this year. But, according to the F1 community, it’s not enough to keep in his current role.

The rumors and recent results prompted the media to finally confront Verstappen on his decisions. But it seems like Max Verstappen was more than annoyed to have an array of reporters nagging him for answers about his Red Bull Racing seat. Max Verstappen had a strict reply to David Croft who tried to enquire about his decisions ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

“No, I think just focus on commentating. I’ll focus on driving. You know, there’s no need to think about any other scenario…. I mean honestly a lot of people are talking about it except me. So yeah…like I said before you know, I just want to focus on my car. Work with the people in the team. That’s the only thing I am thinking about in Formula 1 at the moment.”

Max Verstappen is Red Bull’s second champion. He has won four consecutive championships like his senior, Sebastian Vettel with Red Bull Racing. Even Vettel believes that Red Bull is going to make a comeback and turns things around. So, for now, Verstappen has shut down any rumors about him leaving the team.
