Devavrat Kulkarni

The Florida Panthers dominant run continues with back-to-back Stanley Cup Wins!

The Florida Panthers overcame the Edmonton Oilers in Game 6 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Final to become back-to-back Stanley Cup Champions. In a rematch of last year’s Final, this series was expected to provide plenty of excitement. On one side, the Oilers had Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl leading the charge for Edmonton, while the other side consisted of the well-rounded roster of the Florida Panthers

Following the conclusion of this thrilling 2025 Stanley Cup Final between two high-quality teams, let us take a brief look at the Florida Panthers and their Stanley Cup wins over the years.

How Many Times Have the Panthers Won the Stanley Cup?

The Florida Panthers franchise was founded in 1993, and its first season in the NHL was the 1993-94 season. The 2024-25 season was the Panthers’ 31st season in the league, and with their latest win, the Panthers have now won the Stanley Cup for the second time in franchise history.

As a new franchise, the first couple of seasons were difficult for the team, and it did not qualify for the playoffs. However, the 1995-96 season was a surprisingly successful one, making it to the Final despite not winning the Cup.

Following the 1995-96 season, the franchise only had a few seasons of postseason play in between until the 2019-20 season. The Panthers have not only been consistent recently, but they have also been quite dominant as well.

What Years Did the Florida Panthers Win the Stanley Cup?

The Panthers won their first Stanley Cup in the 2023-24 season when they defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 in a series that went down to the wire. Florida had complete control of the series, winning both of their games at home to start the series. Continuing their dominance, the Panthers took game 3 in Edmonton as well, and it looked like the series would come to an end quickly.

However, the Oilers struck back and took the next three games on the trot to force a final Game 7 in Florida. At home, and with the crowd to support them, Florida came through with a 2-1 score to bring home the first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

The 2024-25 NHL season marks the Panthers’ second Stanley Cup win. Once again, in a rematch of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final, the Panthers took on the Oilers, but this time they were able to clinch the series in 6 games (4-2).

I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
