The FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals have been confirmed after an eventful Round of 16. In an exciting first knockout round, it saw both elite European clubs and South American underdogs secure their spots in the super eight.

The tournament, being hosted in the United States, has already provided shocking upsets and thrilling finishes. Thus, living up to its target of providing clubs from around the world a stage to prove themselves. The next matches are scheduled in major cities like New Jersey, Atlanta, and Orlando.

Now, the eight winner teams from the round of 16 are preparing for their biggest tests yet. Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and PSG remain the favourites for the tournament. Even so, teams like Al Hilal and Fluminense have also made their mark with fearless performances.

Teams That Progressed

The right clubs to have advanced to the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals are – Fluminense, Al Hilal, Palmeiras, Chelsea, PSG, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund. Fluminense pulled off a major shock by defeating Inter Milan 2-0, with goals from German Cano and Hercules.

Meanwhile, Al Hilal caused an even bigger stir by eliminating Manchester City in a 4-3 thriller that went into extra time. Palmeiras edged past fellow Brazilian side Botafogo 1-0 thanks to an extra-time strike. Chelsea produced one of the most dominant performances of the round.

They thrashsd Benfica 4-1 with goals from Christopher Nkunku, Reece James, Pedro Neto, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. PSG delivered a clinical display in their match against Inter Miami hammering them with a 4-0 win as Joao Neves and Achraf Hakimi starred in attack. Bayern Munich battled past Flamengo in a 4-2 win.

Harry Kane and Leon Goretzka goals helped them. Real Madrid narrowly defeated Juventus 1-0 in Miami, with Gonzalo Garcia heading home the winner off a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross. Borussia Dortmund completed the quarter-final lineup with a solid 2-1 win over Monterrey, with a brace from Serhou Guirassy.

What to Expect

The quarter-final fixtures will be played on 4th and 5th July. Fluminense will face Al Hilal in Orlando in a match that sees two tournament underdogs square off. Despite Fluminense’s dream run, Al Hilal’s win over City makes them slight favorites in this clash.

Palmeiras will meet Chelsea in Philadelphia, with the English giants holding the upper hand. Meanwhile, two blockbuster European battles headline the weekend. PSG take on Bayern Munich in Atlanta. The French champions are tipped to advance after their dominant display.

Real Madrid will clash with Borussia Dortmund in New Jersey. The Spanish giants will be entering as favorites, especially with Mbappe back in action. All signs point to a thrilling set of encounters that will determine who makes it to the final four.
