Fernando Alonso Reiterates His Confidence in Max Verstappen!

Fernando Alonso calls his verdict on Max Verstappen's 2025 performance!

Fernando Alonso is the oldest Formula 1 driver on the current grid. However, his age does not stop him from going toe to toe against some of the best drivers of the grid. With the right car and enough performance, Alonso has brought many good results in the recent years. Alonso is also a critical driver who is not afraid of speaking his opinions.

Fernando Alonso has battled some of the best drivers of Formula 1 and earning his praise isn’t an easy task. Although, there is one driver who is always in the good books of Fernando Alonso. Max Verstappen is among the favourite drivers on the Spaniard’s list. Time and again, Fernando Alonso has spoken up about Max Verstappen’s racing talent. It Is safe to say that Alonso is an unofficial fan of Max Verstappen and loves to chit chat about one of the youngest achievers.

Fernando Alonso Calls for Better Performance from Red Bull Racing

It is no surprise in the paddock that in the current championship, every driver considers Max Verstappen as the benchmark. The Dutchman was able to beat his contenders to the title last year with several races to go. However, he was far from being the fastest driver on track in 2024. come 2025, Max Verstappen’s car is giving him a hard time.

On one hand, everyone expects at least one McLaren on the podium during a weekend. On the other hand, people are wondering how Max Verstappen is keeping up in the championship race with his car.

The greatest example of Verstappen’s immeasurable talent is this progress compared to his teammate. Out of the 172 points Red Bull Racing have scored this season, Max Verstappen has brought in 165 of them. His teammate is clearly miles behind the Dutchman when it comes to performance.

Speaking to DAZN about Max Verstappen’s current predicament, Alonso says-

“I don’t think much has changed this season compared to other seasons. I think Verstappen has had his best season to date every year.”

“In 2021, he stole the championship away from Lewis Hamilton and then he dominated for several years in a row. He didn’t have the most dominant car last year and won the championship with several races to go.”

“This year, he may not even have a car that’s one of the best two or three, but he’s still fighting along. He always performs at the top level. It’s another task for Red Bull to give him a car to fight for the championship. But there is no doubt about him.”

Fernando Alonso has pointed out a very crucial fact which puts the blame of Red Bull once again. A few days ago, Crofty revealed that Red Bull Racing had ignored the warnings from the design team to chase the fastest car. Their mistakes are seemingly haunting them now. Even the best driver on track has difficulty managing their car.
