Navarro seeks revenge as Blinkova aims to extend her head-to-head lead in Strasbourg.
Second seed Emma Navarro will face qualifier Anna Blinkova in the second round of the WTA Strasbourg. The American received a first-round bye, while the Russian came through with an upset over Magdalena Frech to book her spot.
Last year, in 2024, the almost 40-year-old Internationaux de Strasbourg tournament was promoted to WTA 500 status, and Madison Keys won the first-ever title there. However, Keys won’t be defending her crown this season.

Emma Navarro has had a mixed season. She started strong with quarterfinal runs in Adelaide and Melbourne and stumbled in the Middle East. But she bounced back to win her maiden WTA title at the Merida Open, defeating Emiliana Arango with a double bagel in the finals. Since then, her only deep run came in Charleston, and she hasn’t gone past the round of 16 elsewhere. She holds a 16-11 record, with 45 aces, a 63.1% first-serve win rate, and a 48.1% break point conversion.
Blinkova, on the other hand, has posted a 14-12 record this season. She reached the quarterfinals in Linz, upsetting Elina Svitolina, before falling to Clara Tauson, and in Austin, losing to Jessica Pegula. Besides these two events, she struggled to get past the early rounds in other events.

Anna Blinkova holds an edge in the head-to-head against Emma Navarro, leading 2-1. Their rivalry kicked off at the 2023 Strasbourg quarterfinals, where Blinkova took control with a commanding straight-sets victory.
The two crossed paths again at the US Open, with Navarro leveling the score by dispatching Blinkova in straight sets. Their latest clash came at the Hong Kong 125, where Blinkova once again asserted dominance, securing another straight-sets win to reclaim the lead in their series.
They’re set to meet for the fourth time at Strasbourg, the very place where their rivalry began. Navarro has the chance to even the score. But if history repeats itself, Blinkova will once again have the last laugh, clapping Navarro in straight sets.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | Internationaux de Strasbourg | Quarterfinal | Anna Blinkova | 6–4, 6–4 |
| 2024 | US Open | First Round | Emma Navarro | 6–1, 6–1 |
| 2024 | Hong Kong 125 Open | Quarterfinal | Anna Blinkova | 6–4, 6–3 |

Blinkova holds the head-to-head edge, but her form this season has been inconsistent. Navarro hasn’t been flawless either, but she has a title, better performances, and deeper runs at bigger events.
