Desmond Watson, Florida’s towering defensive tackle, enters the 2025 NFL draft as one of a kind type prospect, who is defined by his unprecedented size and surprising athleticism. He played four-years of college football for the Florida Gators and finished his college football career with 63 combined tackles (19 solo and 44 assisted), 4 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, 1,5 sacks, and 51 total games played.

How Is Watson Different From Other Players?

What sets Watson apart from other tackles in this draft class is his rare combination of mass and movement. At Florida’s pro day, Watson stunned the NFL scouts by benching 225 pounds 36 times! He outlifted every 2025 Combine participant and showed off his impressive and brute strength. Then he went on to post 25-inch vertical leap, remarkable for a man of his size. What’s even impressive is that fact that despite his size, Watson clocked his 40-yard dash in 5.93 seconds. You may be thinking that 5.93 is slow by conventional standards but wait till you hear just how much this man weighs!

Desmond Watson Could Become the Heaviest Draft Pick in NFL History

Watson weighs 464 pounds and as a result, he could become the heaviest draft pick in NFL history. Watson is a behemoth of a man who could become the heaviest player ever drafted, eclipsing 380 pound mark set by Trent Brown and Daniel Faalele. His unique frame and strength combined with the athleticism he possesses, will make him a high-upside project, who can redefine the tackle role in the NFL.
