Dricus Du Plessis and Belal Muhammad’s heated rivalry reached new heights after UFC 315 on May 10, 2025, in Montreal. The middleweight champion, is a ‘troll lord’ for a reason and he never misses a chance to take a not so friendly jab at fighters who talk trash to him. Du Plessis recently took to X to mock Muhammad’s welterweight championship loss against Jack Della Maddalena.
The two fighters have exchanged quite a lot of words on social media, and there’s one thing we know about the middleweight champ, it’s that he has his twitter fingers ready to send out his diss. So what did the South African champ do this time to get under another fighter’s skin? We’ll find out soon enough in this article. Let’s dive in.
At UFC 315, Belal Muhammad (23-4) faced Jack Della Maddalena (19-2) in a exciting welterweight title fight that had the fans out of their seats at the Bell Centre. Della Maddalena’s relentless and powerful striking very much overwhelmed the former welterweight champion Muhammad, ending his 11-fight unbeaten streak and dethroning him via a unanimous decision victory. The Aussie extended his winning streak to 18, and showcased his precision striking, much improved takedown defense, and the devastating power that he had in his hands. Meanwhile, Muhammad, who won the belt against Leon Edwards in July of 2024, suffered a broken nose, orbital fracture, and a split lip.

This loss was a golden opportunity for Du Plessis to clap back at Muhammad. Their feud began when Muhammad called the middleweight division “the easiest,” and claimed it would be easy for him to become the double champ. Du Plessis, who had just won against Sean Strickland at UFC 312, fired back, mocking Muhammad’s skill and size on the Ariel Helwani show.
Just a few moments after Muhammad’s defeat Du Plessis wasted no time to login on X and he immediately posted “Well done! JK,” taking a jab and sparking laughs and debates amongst his fans. It was clear that Muhammad’s loss had Du Plessis thrilled and he just couldn’t help but take a shot at the former welterweight champ. With Du Plessis now ready to face Khamzat Chimaev in the upcoming months, there is a ton of anticipation in the air, and fans are certainly excited.
Whereas for Muhammad, he has vowed to return someday, but that will not be anytime soon as he has a lot of injuries to recover from before he can fight again.
