The incident occurs as Buehler prepares for Game 3 of the National League Division Series against Michael King's Padres on Tuesday.
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler was robbed of a $100,000 watch while he was with his wife at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia on Monday.
According to a report from ABC 7, Buehler had his luxury watch stolen from his wrist at the race track while he was with his wife, McKenzie Marcinek. A large crowd surrounded the couple, and during the melee, someone allegedly unbuttoned the Dodger pitcher’s shirt sleeve and stole the watch.
The distressing incident occurs as Buehler prepares for Game 3 of the National League Division Series against Michael King’s San Diego Padres on Tuesday.
Buehler has had a tough year, spending two months on the sidelines due to a right hip injury. He failed to make an impact on his return, pitching to a 5.38 ERA and 1.55 WHIP while earning just one win in 16 starts.
Ahead of his first start of the postseason, Walker opened up about his recent struggles after return from injury.
“What happened in the regular season is behind for me. The first inning has been huge this year. Obviously, I’ve struggled in the first inning, but the games that I’ve gotten through the first clean have typically been pretty successful outings for me”, Walker said in the press conference.
“All that really matters is innings in the runs and trying to keep us in the game.”
In his last appearance on Sept. 27, Walker tossed five innings against the Padres, giving up one earned run while surrendering five hits.
While a struggling Buehler is expected to receive a hostile reception from the Padres fans, the veteran is focused on doing the job for the team in crucial games
“We play in these games every year. Every team that plays in the playoffs plays in a swing game or the big momentum game. And I just happen to be starting this one”, Buehler added.
The San Diego Padres will host Dodgers in Game 3 at 9:08 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
