Given the gulf in form and quality, Denmark are strong favourites to take another step forward in their preparations with a comfortable win.
Denmark will continue their preparations for the next round of World Cup 2026 qualifiers with a friendly fixture against Lithuania on Tuesday at Nature Energy Park. Following a comeback win against Northern Ireland over the weekend, Brian Riemer’s men are in high spirits and will aim to make it back-to-back victories on home soil.
The 2-1 success over Northern Ireland helped lift the mood in Denmark camp after their recent elimination from the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals at the hands of Portugal. Despite winning the first leg of that tie, the Danish team ultimately crashed out.
On the other side, Lithuania are enduring a tough year. Edgaras Jankauskas’ side are winless in their last 10 matches in all competitions and continue to struggle at both ends of the pitch. They head into this friendly looking to avoid a ninth defeat in last 10 games. Given the gulf in form and quality, Denmark are strong favourites to take another step forward in their preparations with a comfortable win on Tuesday.

Riemer is expected to rotate his squad, giving opportunities to the likes of Mathias Kvistgaarden, Jannik Vestergaard, Mika Biereth, Morten Hjulmand, and Matt O’Riley. Christian Eriksen found the net in Denmark’s recent 2-1 win over Northern Ireland. The experienced playmaker is expected to feature in a more advanced midfield role on Tuesday, operating just behind Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund.

Lithuania head into Tuesday’s friendly with a fully fit squad at head coach Edgaras Jankauskas’ disposal. Up front, Gytis Paulauskas is expected to lead the line once again, supported by an attacking trio featuring Justas Lasickas, Artur Dolznikov, and Vykintas Slivka.
With no new injury concerns, Jankauskas will be hoping his team can deliver a stronger performance against a high-flying Danish side. The head coach will look to try out attacking options like Paulius Golubickas, Fedor Cernych, and Gratas Sirgedas from the bench as Lithuania search for solutions up front.
