Medvedev reached the Wimbledon semis in 2023 & 2024.
After racing through his Round-1 encounter, former World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev returns to action at the 2025 Terra Wortmann Open in Halle. The Russian faces a stern test against France’s Quentin Halys at the OWL Arena on Wednesday. The winner of this match will face either Stefanos Tsitsipas or Alex Michelsen in the last eight stage.
Medvedev is the No. 3 seed in Halle this week. In comparison to his ridiculously high standards, the World No. 11’s 19-12 record in 2025 is relatively sub-par. Medvedev is searching for his first title this year, as well as much needed momentum on the grass court surface. Despite reaching semifinals at the Open-13 and Indian Wells, the 29-year-old has failed to impress. He beat Daniel Altmaier 6-3 6-3 in Round-1.
A semifinal appearance at the Dubai DutyFree Tennis Championships happens to be the best performance of Quentin Halys this year. He has cracked Top-50 in the rankings, and displayed promise in Stuttgart last week before falling short vs eventual champion Taylor Fritz. Halys has an 83% service game win percentage on grass, and defeated Benjamin Bonzi 6-4 6-4 in Round-1.
Daniil Medvedev leads the head to head against Quentin Halys by 1-0. Their only meeting occurred two years ago at the Miami Masters. Despite attempting to put up a fight, the Russian was too strong for Halys on the day. He applied constant pressure on the serve of the now 28-year-old, and won in straight sets.

While the Frenchman did extremely well to reach this stage, he did not have to face some serious competition to do so. The Medvedev challenge will be a level above. The 2021 US Open champion didn’t do much wrong in his loss to Reilly Opelka last week – the American had an untouchable serving day. Medvedev is likely to remain 100% against Halys.
