The Giants officially part ways with veteran quarterback Daniel Jones, marking the end of his tenure with the team this Friday.
The period of Daniel Jones leading New York has officially come to an end. The team announced that the Giants will be letting go of the veteran quarterback on Friday.
There is no uncertainty left regarding Daniel Jones‘ status. The Giants are advancing ahead of schedule. Days following his removal from the starting lineup, the Giants have released their quarterback who had started for six years.
Jones asked for the release, according to a tweet from NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport. Although Jones’ contract will be put on waivers, it is very improbable that it will be claimed. An early opportunity for free agency is available. Jones and John Mara had a meeting on Friday morning, according to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, and they agreed to separate.

The Giants had moved Jones down to the third-string position, but Daboll stated on Wednesday that it was unclear if Jones would remain as the QB3. Tim Boyle, recently added to the practice squad, received more playing time than Jones in practice, revealing the team’s intentions for the usual starter. Jones stated on Thursday that he was considering whether he would remain with the Giants until the end of the season.
“Daniel came to see me this morning and asked if we would release him, We mutually agreed that would be best for him and for the team. Daniel has been a great representative of our organization, first class in every way. His handling of this situation yesterday exemplifies just that. We are all disappointed in how things have worked out. We hold Daniel in high regard and have a great appreciation for him. We wish him nothing but the best in the future.” : Owner John Mara said in a statement.
Jones was benched by head coach Brian Daboll three days before the game against the Buccaneers, and he was released shortly after.
nhl I’ve always loved writing and storytelling, and hockey gives me a perfect stage for endless stories to tell. Whether it’s breaking down a game, analyzing a big trade, or capturing the emotions on the ice, I bring the NHL to life through words. So what’s the best part you ask? Watching the action unfold and turning it into something fans can connect with. To my readers: Hockey is more than just a game—it’s the highs, the heartbreaks, and the moments that make us jump off our seats. So, keep cheering, keep debating, and never stop loving the madness of the sport!
