Dan Hooker Injury Update- Why Did Dan Hooker Pull Out From the Justin Gaethje Fight At UFC 313?

Eric Divakaran

Dan Hooker will no longer fight against Justin Gaethje at UFC 313. He was scheduled to fight Gaethje on March 8th in T-Mobile Arena at Paradise, Nevada. The cancellation was confirmed by MMA reporter Benny P on X and so far it is not known who will replace Hooker for the fight against Gaethje or if the fight will be rebooked for a later card.

Why did Dan Hooker withdraw from the fight?

According to a video posted by Dan Hooker himself, he claimed that he broke his hand. The severity of the injury is not know currently and in the video posted by “The Hangman,” he said “We did have a little break, we have been busy.” Hooker explained as he was sitting with his daughter “Dad had a fight, or was supposed to have a fight, but I’ve busted my paw.”

You can clearly see in the video that Hooker has some swelling on the top of his hand and it looks like this will keep him out of action for a while.

The fight between Gaethje and Hooker was highly anticipated and the injury has left some fans feeling disappointed. Hooker was ready to go all out against the American and knew that the fight wasn’t going to be easy. He even stated on the The Ariel Helwani Show that “UFC wants somebody to die.”

Most recently in an interview with ESPN Australia, prior to his hand injury, Hooker was asked about how he envisioned the fight going and he said “Oh I know, full well, 100 percent, that this fight is gonna end no matter whose arm gets raised. Then I’m going straight into the stretcher, straight into the back of an ambulance and I’m going to the hospital. I’ve come to terms that that’s how this night is going to end.”

It is a shame that Hooker suffered from an injury but we hope he recovers soon and gets back in the octagon!

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
