Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest have been fighting fire with fire for a long time now. They are not only trying to sabotage each other’s careers, but they are also after the life of each other now. The rivalry that seemed to have gotten resolved after WrestleMania 41 just added a new chapter to it. The event of backlash added fuel to the wildfire. So what happened that intensified their rivalry to such an extent?

What Made These Two Superstars Each Other’s Mortal Enemy?

The rivalry between Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest has not been recent. In fact, it started at WrestleMania 40 when Drew McIntyre became the World Heavyweight Champion, but his celebration lasted only 5 minutes as Damian Priest cashed in his MITB contract on him. Drew tried to reclaim the Heavyweight Championship, but his rivalry with CM Punk always cost him big.

The Rivalry between Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest remained dormant until the latter eliminated Drew from both the Royal Rumble and the Elimination Chamber 2025. This started a series of attacks and retaliation, and the things escalated to a point where they were scheduled to fight at WrestleMania 41 in a Street Fight match.

It seemed that Drew McIntyre had won the match and their rivalry had ended, but Damian Priest had other ideas. He first sent Drew McIntyre through the table on Friday Night SmackDown and then cost him the match and the United States Championship at Backlash 2025 by pulling the referee out when Drew was about to pin LA Knight. Damian didn’t stop here; he mocked Drew for getting bored at work and sent him through the table from a pedestrian.

They were supposed to land on a table, but Drew’s head hit the concrete floor instead. Damian Priest challenged Drew McIntyre for a Steel Cage match at Saturday Night Main Event. It seemed that Drew McIntyre was just waiting for such an opportunity as he accepted the challenge and guaranteed that only one of them would leave the Steel Cage walking and the other one would be on a stretcher.

Drew McIntyre is expected to win this match, and Damian Priest is expected to get injured brutally. Drew is speculated to move to the red brand of WWE after that. One thing is for sure, that their match is going to be one of the most brutal matches of the Saturday Night Main Event.
