Colorado bolsters roster with young forward Zakhar Bardakov’s entry-level contract.
The Colorado Avalanche have made an exciting move by signing forward Zakhar Bardakov to a one-year, entry-level contract. The 24-year-old, who has been playing with SKA St. Petersburg in the KHL, has shown an impressive performance throughout the season. In 53 games, Bardakov scored 17 goals and accumulated 35 points, setting new career highs in both categories. He also served as an alternate captain, demonstrating leadership on and off the ice.
In addition to his regular-season success, Bardakov added two points in six playoff games in the KHL. Over his 209-game KHL career, he has accumulated 79 points, further solidifying his potential as a skilled forward. Bardakov’s time in the MHL also displayed his talent, with 70 points in 104 games.

Standing at 6’2″ and weighing 210 pounds, Bardakov uses his physicality to his advantage, particularly when battling defenders in the offensive zone. Although drafted by the New Jersey Devils in 2021, he was acquired by the Avalanche in a trade last season. With the team’s Stanley Cup aspirations still intact, Bardakov joins a promising group of young forwards in Colorado’s pipeline, including Maxmilian Curran, Cooper Gay, and Taylor Makar.
While Bardakov may start his career in the AHL to adjust to the North American game, his physical attributes and solid track record suggest that he could earn a spot with the Avs sooner rather than later. This move adds depth and excitement to an already talented roster looking toward the future.

nhl I’ve always loved writing and storytelling, and hockey gives me a perfect stage for endless stories to tell. Whether it’s breaking down a game, analyzing a big trade, or capturing the emotions on the ice, I bring the NHL to life through words. So what’s the best part you ask? Watching the action unfold and turning it into something fans can connect with. To my readers: Hockey is more than just a game—it’s the highs, the heartbreaks, and the moments that make us jump off our seats. So, keep cheering, keep debating, and never stop loving the madness of the sport!
