Ashish Negi

Cody will be out of action for a while now owing to the cervical injury.

The rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens has been going on for a long now. The former allies turned enemies are hellbent on hurting each other in one of the other ways. Kevin Owens took it too far when he delivered a pile driver to Cody. He previously delivered the banned Piledriver to Randy in WWE.

“The Game” Triple H was seen fuming into the scene to confront Kevin. Both were seen having a verbal altercation off-air. Triple H angrily pushed Kevin back and K.O. retaliated with the same. Officials stopped Owens from charging toward “The Game”.

Why did the rivalry between Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes Start?

Kevin hates Cody for siding with Roman Reign, at Badblood who tried to end K.O.’s career. The rivalry between “The American Nightmare” and K.O. started when the latter started a series of backstage attacks on Cody and Randy Orton. K.O. delivering Pile driver to The Viper added fuel to the rivalry.

Kevin Owens was banned from the WWE after he performed a Pile Driver on RKO. The American Nightmare promised that he would beat the lesson of not using a banned move into Kevin. Kevin vowed that he would turn “The American Nightmare” into the “Canadian Dream”.

What happened at Saturday Night’s Main Event?

The match between the arch-rivals ended with The American Nightmare retaining his Undisputed title and it looked like things will get resolved now. Just when everybody thought that their long-standing rivalry had ended at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Kevin Owens attacked Cody from behind and delivered the banned piledriver to him just when the event went off-air.

K.O. didn’t stop there as he took his Winged Undisputed Championship belt, stood over Cody’s lifeless body, and showed the belt to the crowd while the crowd watched in stunned silence.

When will Cody be back in action?

After being brutalized with a Piledriver from K.O., Cody was tied to a stretcher and taken out in an Ambulance to get medical attention. WWE has shared an update on Cody’s injury. It was confirmed earlier that Cody was suffering from cervical swelling and he was kept under supervision at a local hospital.

It is now been revealed that Cody is officially being diagnosed with axial compression of the cervical spine, as well as cervical strain with spasm. X-ray showed negative for a fracture. The “Legend Killer” Randy is still out of WWE post-receiving piledriver from Kevin Owens.

WWE has not yet announced a timeline and while these injuries can take from weeks to months for recovery. We can expect Cody back before Royal Rumble 2025.
