Lewis Hamilton delivers a stunning lap at the Chinese Grand Prix Sprint Qualifying to fortify Vasseur's stance.

The Chinese Grand Prix Sprint Qualifying session was conquered by Lewis Hamilton for Scuderia Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton changed teams for the 2025 season. He is a part of the Scuderia Ferrari Racing team in 2025, donning the Rosso Corsa colors for the Maranello team. Hamilton’s reputation and achievements in the sport made him an instant favorite among the Ferrari fans. He suffered at Mercedes for the past three years due to the new Formula 1 regulations. However, Hamilton’s move to Ferrari was equally troublesome. In his first race at Ferrari, Hamilton scored only one point. He was overtaken by Oscar Piastri at the last moment.

Lewis Hamilton also faced troubles on team radio with his new race engineer. He had to stop his race engineer from nagging him and teaching him about the car throughout the race. Hamilton and Leclerc’s troubles coerced Fred Vasseur to come to their rescue. He promised that fans would see a new Ferrari at the Chinese Grand Prix and they would start from scratch. Ferrari pulled off a shocking performance in Sprint Qualifying at the Chinese Grand Prix to deliver on their promise.

Chinese Grand Prix Sprint Qualifying Results

Lewis Hamilton was initally dealing with Ferrari and getting used to the car. He was unable to produce satisfactory results at the Australian Grand Prix. At the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix Sprint Qualifying session, both Hamilton and Leclerc were lagging behind initally. However, in the final run of Q3, Lewis Hamilton set a time of 1:30.849. He will the start the Sprint race on pole position at the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix.

Hamilton’s old rival and defending world champion, Max Verstappen is only 0.018s behind him. He is making up for his rookie teammate Liam Lawson who will start the sprint race dead last on the grid. Liam Lawson’s direct rival, Yuki Tsunoda was able secure place in the top-10 with the help of Isack Hajdar in Q2. Tsunoda will start the sprint race in 8th position. However, he did benefit from Hajdar’s tow during the Q2 session. Hajdar could not set a time in Q2 and will start in 15th position.

Carlos Sainz struggled in the Williams yet again and got knocked out in Q2. Alex Albon is starting the sprint race in 9th position after securing his second Q3 appearance in 2025. Lance Stroll triumphed over Alonso to secure his place in the top-10 grid. Lando Norris who was among the favorites for the pole could go no better than 6th on the grid. His teammate Oscar Piastri is third in the qualifying, ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
