Garima Ranawat

Reese will be out for the first half of the Aces game on Tuesday.

In the aftermath of what Angel Reese told to the media about teammates and organization, the Chicago Sky handed her a half-game suspension. As a result, the two-time WNBA All-Star forward won’t play in the first half of the Sky’s Tuesday-night clash against the Las Vegas Aces. The announcement was made by the team on their social media account. Notably, in one of the recent interviews, Angel Reese made some controversial remarks about her teammates, citing concerns for the Sky’s run in the upcoming season.

In their official statement, Sky announced, “Because of statements detrimental to the team made by Angel Reese during league-mandated media, she will not play in the first half of the game on September 7 against the Las Vegas Aces. This matter has been handled and resolved internally, and we are moving forward as a team.”

Notably, Reese issued an apology for her comments and said that her remarks were misinterpreted. There were reports which suggested that Reese’s teammates weren’t happy with what she said. Hence, a meeting was likely to be organized where the 23-year-old would be confronted directly. However, with its actions, Chicago sends a clear message that players need to be mindful of what they say for the team and fellow players

Reese was suspended from the Sky’s Friday-night encounter against the Fever as well. The suspension was handed to her after she picked eighth technical foul of the season during a matchup against the Connecticut Sun on September 3.

Angel Reese Celebrates NBA 2K26 Cover Moment

The LSU alum carefully sidelined the recent drama her statements stirred. Reese shifted the conversation to her NBA 2K26 cover moment. The star forward took to social media to express her gratitude for being named the face of the NBA2K26 WNBA Edition of the basketball game licensed through EA Sports.

Notably, Reese has had a terrific season on the floor despite the fact that Sky once again finished at the bottom part of the standings. As of now, the Chicago Sky maintain a 10-31 win-loss record, having occupied the 12th spot in the standings. The 2024 WNBA rebounding leader has averaged 14.0 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game in the ongoing season across 21 games.
