Reese addressed the media after 88-64 win over the Sun.

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese issued clarification on recent statement she made on her team and teammates as well as issued an apology for the same. Recently, in one of her recent interviews, Reese expressed her concerns amid another disappointing season, while talking about her plans moving ahead. However, following the blowout win over the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday, the two-time WNBA All-Star clarified that her statement was taken out of context, and whatever she said was out of frustration.

Reese also said that she didn’t mean to call out her teammates as well as expressed her desire to play along with more talented players in Chicago. In the post-game press conference, the 23-year-old said, “I probably am frustrated [with] myself right now. I think the language is taken out of context. I really didn’t intentionally mean to put down my teammates, because they’ve been through this with me throughout the whole year.”

The Sky phenom revealed that she has already apologized to her teammates about her remarks, and stated that she would work on her language so that her messages are not misinterpreted. Reese stated, “I want to apologize to my teammates, which I already have about the article and how it was misconstrued about what was said. And I just have to be better with my language. Because I know it’s not the message, it’s the messenger. And understanding what I say can be taken any kind of way. So, I just have to really be better and grow from this.”

Angel Reese’s Remarks Spark Buzz Among WNBA Fans

Notably, during her interview with Chicago Tribune, Reese expressed her concerns about how their season went and what they must focus on during the offseason to avoid similar outcomes. She said, “I’m not settling for the same s— we did this year. We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a non-negotiable for me. I’m willing and wanting to play with the best. And however I can help to get the best here, that’s what I’m going to do this offseason.”

‘Chi Barbie’ also spoke about her future with the Sky and said that while she would want to be here, her decision would depend on what’s best for her. The LSU alum said, “I’d like to be here for my career, but if things don’t pan out, obviously I might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me.” There were reports that suggested that the entire Sky team was unhappy with Reese’s remarks. In addition, a team meeting was being planned where players were expected to address Reese directly.

Angel Reese Receives Eighth Technical of the Season, Will be Out for Sky vs Fever

Angel Reese received a one-game suspension as she surpassed the regular-season technical foul limit. During the Sky’s 88-64 win over the Sun, Reese received her eighth technical late in the second quarter after she hit Sun’s Aaliyah Edwards in the head. Edwards and Reese were battling for the position under the basket, and when Edwards looked up, Reese hit her with the back of her hand.

According to the rules, a player or a coach will be suspended for one game without pay if they receive their eighth technical foul during the regular season. Earlier, the limit was seven games, but it was increased to eight games this season due to the 44-game schedule. If a player or coach receives two additional fouls, they will be automatically suspended for an additional game.

It means that Reese will be out of the Sky’s clash against the Indiana Fever on Friday, September 5, unless the foul is rescinded.
