Carter Bear is seen as top 15 player at the draft this year
The wait is finally over as the 2025 NHL Entry Draft has arrived. Round 1 of this year’s draft from Los Angeles, California, takes center stage tonight, while rounds 2-7 will take place on Saturday.
There will be plenty of talented young hockey players waiting for their names to be called, and amongst them, one of the top players in this year’s draft will be Carter Bear. Here we will dive deeper into his overall strengths and weaknesses, and get an idea of his draft projection.
Carter Bear is a Canadian ice hockey player who was born on November 4, 2006, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Bear is 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds. He is a left-handed shooter who plays as a forward, but his versatility allows him to play either as a center or on the left wing.
The 18-year-old has been playing for the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League (WHL) for the past three seasons. In 142 games, Bear has accumulated 141 points, which include 66 goals and 75 assists.

Overall, Carter Bear is a more than decent skater on the ice. Although he may not have the raw pace to get clear separation, he is still quite pacy, especially when he gets going. He is able to get around the ice well and is able to frequently get into the danger areas.
Bear’s 40 goals from 56 games last season showcase his ability to score consistently, and with 42 assists, it also reflects his strong passing game. In fact, passing is one of his stronger areas of the game where his playmaking skills come to the forefront.
He is always looking for the right passes, which is more often than not aided by his good vision. Also, another strong point of his game is his competitive level. He brings a ton of energy to every game and is always seen chasing the puck.

Grizzlies have a shoulder hump and a dished face.
This Bear has no quit and a nose for the net.

Despite scoring so many goals last season, his shooting mechanics can still use some work. Along with that, he has a tendency to lose the puck in traffic as he tries to do a little too much. At times, he doesn’t make the best decisions, which leads to a loss of possession. Apart from a couple of key points, Bear’s game doesn’t consist of too many weaknesses.
Bear is considered to be one of the best players in this draft class. Several scouting agencies and experts have him ranked close to the top 10. There is a chance that Bear may get drafted inside the top 10, but more realistically, he could be selected anywhere between picks 10 to 15.
nfl I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
