Brady Martin's strength lies in his physical approach toward the game

The big night for hockey fans is here once again. It’s the annual NHL Entry Draft, and this year we have yet another spectacular lineup of talented, young players ready to get their professional careers underway in the NHL.

Coming to us live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, the two-day event will see 224 players get selected through the draft. Among them, we have one of the best players in this year’s draft class, Brady Martin. Here is a quick insight into his game, focusing on his strengths and areas of improvement.

Brady Martin Overview

Brady Martin is an ice hockey player from Elmira, Ontario. The Canadian was born on March 16, 2007, making him 18 years old ahead of the draft. Standing 6 feet in height and weighing approximately 174 pounds, Martin is known for his physical style of play.

The right-hand shooter plays as a forward and is primarily a center. Martin has played the last couple of seasons of junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. In his two seasons with the team, Martin has scored 43 goals and provided 57 assists, giving him 100 points in 109 games.

Brady Martin Strengths

Shooting the puck is definitely one of Brady Martin’s biggest plus points. He is able to generate plenty of power behind his shots, but at the same time, the accuracy is not compromised. The ability to rip a puck into the back of the net from various angles makes his shooting impressive.

Martin is a workhorse type of player who uses his physicality to his advantage. Despite not being the best skater, and with more than average puck control, his ability to shield the puck helps him maintain control. Although Martin is not the fanciest player, it is his hard work ethic that gets him the desired results.

Brady Martin Weaknesses

Martin is not the best when it comes to skating. He doesn’t have the speed to create separation, and he has a hunched posture while skating, which is not the ideal way to generate pace on ice.

Additionally, he appears to be puck-watching at times and loses track of the play, resulting in open passing lanes for the opposition. Slowing the play down is also an aspect of the game he needs to work on; otherwise, he is prone to giveaways when he tries to do too much with the puck.

Brady Martin Draft Projection

Brady Martin is seen as one of the top 15 draft picks in this draft class by several experts and scouts. Many of the mock drafts have him going inside the top 15 and closer to the number 10 overall pick. The talented center is surely expected to be a first-round draft pick, irrespective of where he lands.

I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
