Caroline Garcia Announces Retirement from Professional Tennis, to play Roland Garros 2025 as her last tournament

Caroline Garcia also won the doubles' event at the Roland Garros in 2016 and 2022.

Caroline Garcia has announced her retirement from professional tennis and the Roland Garros 2025 will be her last tournament. The 31-year-old dropped a social media post and wrote an emotional letter where she bid a goodbye to her favourite sport.

Garcia is a former champion of the WTA Finals, and former world number 4. She was the semi-finalist in the US Open 2022. The French ace also won the doubles’ event at the Roland Garros in 2016 and 2022. Caroline had a struggle story in the last two and a half years and decided to bring her career to an end.

Caroline Garcia Will Play His Final Grand Slam Event at Ronald Garros

“My body and mind need it,” said Caroline Garcia, who made an emotional post on social media. She wrote a letter to his favourite sport and shared her 15-year long journey in words.

“After 15 years competing at the highest level, and more than 25 years investing pretty much every second of my life into it, I feel ready to start a new chapter […] Still, this is not over – not just yet, Caroline Garcia said. “I still some tournaments left. The first one is at home, at Roland-Garros. My 14th consecutive time being part of it. And my last. So, to all my tennis family who’ll be around, let’s meet one more time, to dream and fight together.”

The Frenchwoman is participating in the Ronaldo Garros since 2011 and it will be her 14th appearance in world’s biggest clay-court competition. Garcia started the career at the age of 17 and made an entry as a wild-card player. She got an appreciation from Maria Sharapova, former world No.1. “It was a lot of pressure coming out of nowhere when I was just a very young player,” she said after facing young Caroline Garcia.

Caroline Garcia won the Roland-Garros for the first time in 2016, alongside partner Kristina Mladenovic. During the same year, she reached the quarter-finals, her best result at French Open. She made it into the fourth round twice in 2018 and 2020. After six years, the French ace won the French Open for the second time in doubles’ event. Garcia and Mladenovic beat No.2 seeds Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula to win the trophy. Her only WTA finals victory came in Fort Worth in same year.

Caroline Garcia will kick off her campaign in the 2025 Ronald Garros against Bernarda Pera on Sunday. If she wins, she will take on either Donna Vekic or Anna Blinkova. Apart from Garcia, Richard Gasquet, will also be retiring after the tournament. The French veteran made his debut at Roland Garros in 2002 when he was just 15.
