Riyadh Season’s Mega-Fight Takes Shape, was Dana White Snubbed?

Turki Alalshikh, who’s the architect of Riyadh Season, has confirmed that Sela, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment fund, will promote the undisputed super middleweight title fight between Canelo Alvarez, who is currently 63-2-2, and Terence Crawford, who is (41-0), scheduled for Saturday, September 13th, 2025.

The date shifted from an initial September 12th plan, and Alalshikh noted via X that the broadcaster remains undecided but will be pay-per-view, ruling out Netflix. Quite notably, this announcement snubbed UFC President Dana White, whose TKO boxing was originally set to co-promote the event alongside Alalshikh. Sela’s sole promotion underscores Saudi Arabia’s growing dominance and popularity in boxing’s biggest stages. Which has left Dana White’s involvement out in the dust.

Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford Fight Preview

With Crawford leaping two weight classes from junior middleweight to challenge Alvarez at 168 pounds, he will face quite a difficult challenge in taking down the Mexican superstar. This bout marks the fourth Riyadh Season event hosted outside of Saudi Arabia, following Crawford’s 154-pound title win in Los Angeles against Israil Madrimov, and Daniel Dubois’ knockout of Anthony Joshua in London. The third event will be the upcoming Dubois-Usyk heavweight title fight in July of 2025.

With Alvarez set to defend his Ring, WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO titles against the unbeaten Crawford, this bout is primed to be 2025’s biggest fight. More details are coming soon, but the stage has been set for an epic fight that the fans have been waiting for.

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
