Smart play by Minnesota. Cam Robinson could be just the boost the Vikings need upfront!
The Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to trade offensive tackle Cam Robinson to the Minnesota Vikings for draft picks, according to NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero on Tuesday.
Alongside Robinson, the Vikings will acquire a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick, which may be forfeited depending on Robinson’s playing time. Meanwhile, the Jaguars will receive a 2026 fifth-round pick that could escalate to a fourth-rounder if Robinson logs enough snaps, Rapoport and Pelissero reported.
Bringing in Robinson fills a major gap for the Vikings, who lost starting left tackle Christian Darrisaw to a season-ending knee injury in last Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Minnesota, battling to stay competitive in a tight NFC North, started the season strong at 5-0 but has slipped to third place after dropping the last two games.
Swapping Darrisaw for Robinson isn’t a perfect replacement, but in the middle of the season, quality offensive line options are limited. The Vikings have now added a seasoned tackle who, given the circumstances, could be a solid addition.
As NFL.com’s Kevin Patra pointed out earlier Tuesday, Robinson appears to fit well within Minnesota’s current needs.
Darrisaw, with an 81.4 PFF grade that ranks him among the top 10 tackles in the league, sustained a torn ACL and MCL against the Rams last week.
Robinson, a former Alabama standout and second-round pick, has started 91 games and brings substantial size at 6’6″, 335 pounds, which should strengthen Minnesota’s line to better protect quarterback Sam Darnold.
Ahead of the Jaguars’ upcoming game against the Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville had opted to sit Robinson in favor of Walker Little, despite Robinson clearing concussion protocols. This game marked the first time the team benched Robinson while he was healthy during his tenure.
With a 69.4 PFF grade this season, Robinson has allowed four sacks and accumulated 91 career starts since the Jaguars drafted him in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
The 29-year-old Robinson, now in the final year of his contract, is the second lineman Jacksonville has traded this season, following defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris, whom the team dealt to the Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 14.
For the 2-6 Jaguars, this move could indicate a shift in focus toward 2025. Jacksonville kept Robinson out of Sunday’s game against Green Bay, with Walker Little stepping in as the starting left tackle.
