The former champion looked tired and frustrated as Resendiz continued to walk him down round after round. Plant’s excessive clinching became a desperate survival tactic rather than strategic boxing.

The final rounds were all Resendiz as he dominated with consistent pressure and body work. Plant tried to showboat occasionally, but it came across as desperate rather than confident. When the final bell rang, most fans knew what was coming. The scorecards read 116-112, 116-112, and 113-115, giving Resendiz a split decision victory. Plant’s third career loss came against someone he was supposed to beat easily!

Edgar Berlanga wasted no time jumping on Plant’s misfortune. The Puerto Rican fighter, who has exchanged heated words with Plant in the past, posted on X with brutal honesty. His message was short but devastating.
