Boxing News – Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois Rematch Date Reportedly Finalized As Negotiations Enter Final Chapter

Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois rematch date and venue reportedly finalized as the negotiations enter its final stages!

Heavyweight boxing has always been about more than just titles. The division carries a special magic that captures even the casual fans imagination. Two massive men, each capable of ending a fight with one punch, testing their skills against each other. The undisputed champion title has become boxing’s holy grail. Few fighters ever get the chance to grab all major belts at once.

Now, Oleksandr Usyk, the Ukrainian boxing maestro holds that honor. His victory over Tyson Fury crowned him undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. The celebration was short-lived though. The IBF stripped Usyk of their belt soon after, citing his decision to face Fury in a rematch rather than fight their mandatory challenger. Boxing politics struck again, splitting the titles and leaving fans frustrated. Daniel Dubois was elevated to IBF champion. Now, after months of negotiations, these two titans are almost ready to settle things once and for all.

Wembley Stadium Set To Host Heavyweight Showdown

According to respected boxing journalist Mike Coppinger of The Ring, Usyk and Dubois are putting the final touches on a deal to meet at London’s Wembley Stadium on July 12. Once again, all the major belts will be on the line. Usyk brings his WBA, WBC, WBO, and Ring Magazine championships, while Dubois contributes the IBF strap to complete the undisputed puzzle. The timing couldn’t be better for both men. Usyk is coming off back-to-back victories over Tyson Fury, cementing his legacy as this era’s premier heavyweight. Dubois, meanwhile, is riding high after his shocking fifth-round knockout of Anthony Joshua last September at the same venue.

This rematch carries extra intrigue thanks to their controversial first meeting. When they fought back in August 2023, Dubois believed he had Usyk beaten in the fifth round. He landed an shot that sent the Ukrainian crashing to the canvas in obvious pain. Referee ruled it a low blow, giving Usyk nearly five minutes to recover. Many observers felt it was a legal shot to the beltline that should have counted as a knockdown. Usyk eventually gathered himself and stopped Dubois in the ninth round.

Both Fighters Riding Momentum Into Rematch

Since their first encounter, both men have been perfect. Dubois has gone 3-0 with three impressive stoppage victories, including his career-best performance against Joshua. His power has never been in question, but his improved technique and newfound confidence have turned him into a different fighter. Usyk hasn’t been resting either. He defeated Tyson Fury twice, handling the much larger man with his superior boxing skills and surprising strength on the inside.

The July date gives boxing fans something huge to look forward to this summer. While Saudi Arabia has hosted most recent major heavyweight fights, bringing this one to Wembley Stadium feels different. The 90,000-seat venue will create an electric atmosphere for what could be a defining night in heavyweight history. Dubois will have the passionate home crowd firmly behind him. If the big-punching Brit can avenge his loss and become undisputed champion, it would complete one of boxing’s most remarkable comebacks!
