Second career meeting as both players aim for their first win in Turin.
No. 5 seed Ben Shelton and No. 8 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime will be hoping to get their campaign up and running on Wednesday at the Nitto ATP Finals 2025. The two stars will face off for the first time this year, as things heat up in the Bjorn Borg Group. While the American has an uphill battle against Italian giant Sinner in the final round robin match-up, Auger-Aliassime will face Zverev. Today, we will break down the records and betting odds for this upcoming contest in Turin (via BetMGM).
A two-time Grand Slam semifinalist, Ben Shelton is making his debut at the season-ending championships this year. With a solitary title at the National Bank Open, Shelton cemented his spot among the ATP’s top stars. The 23-year-old achieved his career-best finish at three out of the four majors in 2025. He also finished as the finalist in Munich, and entered the ATP Finals on the back of a quarterfinal outing in Paris Bercy. Shelton has won 76% first serve points and 55% second serve points on hard courts this season.

Felix Auger-Aliassime was a last minute entrant into the Turin draw. The 25-year-old made his return to the Top-10 on the back of three titles, two finals and five semifinals. Auger-Aliassime was one of the few players to challenge World No. 2 Jannik Sinner this year – taking a set off him at Flushing Meadows. Currently ranked No. 8 in the world, the Canadian has a win-loss record of 48-23 across the 2025 campaign. On hard courts this year, Auger-Aliassime has won a total of 69% points on serve and 52% points on return.

Based on the surface and recent form, everything points towards a tight win for Auger-Aliassime. His fierce groundstrokes are compounded by the fact that there is an extra zing from the court conditions. Shelton’s second serve success rate on hard courts could come back to haunt him, as the American fails to get out of trouble when his first serve does not click. If the match goes into a baseline duel, FAA is the firm favorite.
Prediction: Felix Auger-Aliassime in three sets.
