Jon Jones has always been selective about his fights, and for good reason. The man hasn’t lost a real fight in his entire career (let’s not talk about that Matt Hamill DQ). He has taken down UFC legends like Daniel Cormier, Alexander Gustafsson, and Ciryl Gane, making it look easy most of the time.

But now there is a new beast in the heavyweight division who’s got everyone talking. Tom Aspinall is the British wrecking ball who needs less time to finish fights than most people need to make coffee. He became the interim heavyweight champion after dispatching Sergei Pavlovich and recently defended his interim belt against Curtis Blaydes.

According to Muhammad, Jones is likely eyeing Alex Pereira first, and honestly, who can blame him? Pereira is a terrifying striker, but he is also a more favorable matchup for Jones’ wrestling-heavy style than the all-around tornado that is Aspinall. It’s like choosing between fighting a lion or fighting a lion who also knows jiu-jitsu – both are dangerous, but one gives you more paths to victory.

“If I’m Jon Jones, the next hungry lion is Aspinall. He is probably the toughest fight that he will have. He is the next generation, he is lot stronger, lot faster. But i think Jon Jones is good enough to beat him. But it has to be worth it. If i’m Jon Jones who has done everything in the sport, it’s not worth it if it’s not for that $30 million , $50 million payday.”
