Know more about the track hosting the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix

Formula 1 is ready to made it’s last stop in the triple header weekend. The entourage will head over to Spain for the last race of the triple header. The Spanish GP is going to be Formula 1’s first race in June. The race is going to create a huge fanbase due to their two home heroes- Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso.

The Spanish Grand Prix is going to take place on June 1st, 2025 around the Circuit de Barcelona- Catalunya. Barcelona is one of the two tracks that will host Formula 1 racing in Spain. The uncertainty of its future in Formula 1 from 2026 is th latest talk in the paddock. There is hope that Formula 1 won’t ditch the historic track after tbe construction of Madrid’s street circuit.

Barcelona Circuit History

The track was unveiled in 1989 and hosted its fiest Formula 1 race in 1991. The very first Spanish GP was sensational drag between Aurton Senna and Nigel Mansell down the straight. Nigel Mansell achieved victory in the first race at the track. The Spanish GP is along the most famous races of the calendar.

Barcelona is a track loved by the teams and drivers alike. The cars have a lot of experience around the track during testing and drivers like to push the limits around the Circuit on race weekend. Max Verstappen won the 2024 Spanish GP. He is the only other driver to win race after Lewis Hamilton for nearly one decade. Verstappen also claimed his first F1 victory in Barcelona.

The 2026 Formula Spanish GP is going to host 66 laps of racing around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The drivers are going to cover a total distance of 307.236 km around the racetrack this weekend. Here are some important statistics about the track-

The track is famous for its long straights which give ample overtaking action to spectators. The turn-3 is one of the most challenging corners of the circuit. Barcelona Circuit is known for its good mix of high and low speed corners.
