FC Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League journey for the 2025-26 season has been mapped out following Thursday’s draw in Monaco. The Catalan giants now know their eight opponents for the new league-phase format, which replaces the traditional group stage. Blockbuster clashes and demanding away trips are ahead.
Hansi Flick’s men will need to combine consistency and quality to secure a top-eight finish. Only that will guarantee them a direct qualification to the Round of 16 without going through the playoff round. Barcelona head into the Champions League on the back of a promising start under Flick.

Pre-season saw them win against Juventus and Villarreal. Their opening La Liga fixtures have also been positive. Their new signings have integrated well while stars like Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal are showing strong form. After reaching the semi-finals last season, La Blaugrana are hungry to go one better this time.
The biggest headline clash will come against reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain, who will visit the Estadi Olímpic in what promises to be a fiery encounter. The rivalry between Barca and PSG has been recent but it has defined several iconic Champions League moments over the last decade.

Another major showdown awaits them. It will be against Chelsea, the Club World Cup holders, at Stamford Bridge. This is another game filled with history and intrigue. Away from the glamour ties, Newcastle United will host Barca at St. James’ Park, a venue famous for its intense atmosphere.
The English side might not be as dominant as in previous seasons but still remain a formidable opponent. Other fixtures include home games against Eintracht Frankfurt, Olympiacos, and Copenhagen, and away matches at Club Brugge and Slavia Praha. These teams may not carry the same weight as PSG or Chelsea.
However, tricky conditions and motivated squads can cause problems any time. Even so, if Barcelona maintain their early-season form, they could realistically win at least five or six of these eight matches. Thus, securing a spot in the round of 16 and possibly a top-two finish. That, in turn, would guarantee them a home advantage in future knockout rounds.
