Chelsea in their pursuit of strengthening their midfield are exploring an option to sign FC Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez. With the latest reports suggesting, Enzo Maresca has taken a liking to Lopez, no club-to-club contract has been made yet.

The Premier League team is in touch with the player’s camp as they consider alternative attacking options in case of departures, given Barcelona’s depth at the position. However, Lopez’s Barcelona contract runs through to 2029 recently signed in October which could cause the price hike.

Developed in La Masia, Lopez had a loan spell at Linares (scored 12 goals in 37 games), and broke into Barcelona’s first team in 2023. Internationally, he debuted for Spain and featured in the Euro 2024-winning squad and the Olympics (gold medal, 6 goals).

Lopez’s market value has skyrocketed over the past year, now sitting around €50–60 million according to multiple sources, reflecting his breakout season at Barcelona.
