Aston Martin Formula 1 Team
| Team Name | Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team |
| Base | Silverstone, Northamptonshire, England |
| Team Principal | Andy Cowell |
| Drivers | Fernando Alonso- #14; Lance Stroll- #18 |
It is a good fact that Aston Martin have managed to fend off their identity crisis for the upcoming seasons. Aston Martin had a simplistic season in 2024 compared to their exploits in 2023. Alonso and Stroll managed to secure fifth position in the championship but lost a lot of points. They had nearly half the points they managed to collect in 2023 and zero podiums compared to the previous season.
Aston Martin was able to secure the biggest catch of 2024 by convincing Adrian Newey to join the team. However, the team was mostly carried by Alonso who was bearing the load of collecting points for the team. Lance Stroll on the other hand, could only finish better than his world champion teammate on two occasions and spent the rest of the season comfortably staying out of points finishes.
Aston Martin Racing has more names than race wins in their history. The team used to be a sponsor for Red Bull from 2016 to 2020 and were the title sponsors in 2018 and 2020 Formula 1 seasons. Aston Martin took over the Racing Point Formula 1 team with Lawrence Stroll buying his way into the Formula 1 grid. The team have had two world champions driving for them- Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso. Although Aston Martin do not have a highly successful record in Formula 1, they have still managed to establish themselves as a competitive midfield team.

Aston Martin’s owner Lawrence Stroll has made no efforts to hide his intentions about making Aston Martin a team fighting for wins and championships. He has procured one of the best drivers on the grid for a long-term contract. He also has the technical backing of Newey who is sure to bring some changes into the competitiveness of the cars.
However, Stroll is missing a key element in his cars and that is a competent second driver. Lance Stroll has not managed to best any of his former teammates during his Formula 1 career, leaving Aston Martin in a dire situation while scavenging for points. For 2025, Aston Martin might be one of the slower cars of the grid but will later catch up to the top cars with the help of Newey. They can also gain some podiums if Alonso is able to set up his car in the way he wants to.

Fernando Alonso is Aston Martin’s best bet when it comes to competing for podiums. The Spaniard has proved himself as one of the fastest drivers of the grid. He is the oldest driver of the 2025 Formula 1 grid. (many of the rookies were not even born when he started competing). Alonso is a two-time world champion but his hunt for victories has led him to Aston Martin, where he believes he might put a satisfying closure to his career. Alonso was a formidable competitor right from the start of his career. He defeated Michael Schumacher in his prime.
Although Alonso has had intense rivalries with many of the successful drivers of the Formula 1 grid including- Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel. He was not able to replicate his multiple-podium winning formula in 2024. But to his defense, the Spaniard does not have a car that can match his level of racecraft. In 2023, it was visible that the “Super Rookie” was fit enough to compete for wins if given a chance.

Lance Stroll has been the second driver at Aston Martin for a long time. Even though Aston Martin has had the likes of Sergio Perez, Sebastian Vettel, Nico Hulkenberg and Felipe Drugovich in their roster, Stroll has been a permanent figure in the team since 2019 (when it was known as Racing Point). He has been unable to match the level of race craft displayed by his teammates.
Stroll has partnered two world champion teammates, yet, all he can do is finish two or three races in points at the most. His last podium came in 2020 when Racing Point was at their full glory. In 2021, he was retained and the better performing Sergio Perez was replaced in favor of Sebastian Vettel. Lance Stroll needs to up his game, if he wants to shut down the harsh criticism that surrounds him based on the fact that his father owns the Aston Martin Formula 1 team.

nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
Message to Readers: I promise you one day you’ll see me managing operations on track with a Formula 1 team ; )
