All you need to know about the semifinal clash in Brisbane.
Top seed and defending champion Aryna Sabalenka is set to battle 11th seed Karolina Muchova in the 2026 Brisbane International semifinal on Saturday. The Czech starlet edged out reigning WTA Finals champion Elena Rybakina in the last eight, and is out for more blood. However, the Belarusian powerhouse is on an eight-match win streak at this tournament. Despite Muchova holding the advantage in this rivalry so far, Sabalenka is set to start as the favorite over the weekend.
The last face-off between Sabalenka and Muchova took place over a year ago. Having already won competitions like the Australian Open and US Open back-to-back, the World No. 1 is aiming to repeat the heroics in the River City. She finished the 2025 campaign with an extraordinary 63-12 record, winning four trophies along the way. Meanwhile, Muchova is back in the Top-20 of the WTA Rankings, and could enter the Top-10 with a solid performance in Melbourne Park.

Sabalenka kicked off proceedings against Cristina Bucsa of Spain, earning a dominant 6-0 6-1 win in the process. Following this, she overpowered two tricky opponents in the form of Sorana Cirstea and Madison Keys with an identical 6-3 6-3 scoreline. In the second quarter of the draw, Muchova’s thrilling wins against Ajla Tomljanovic and Ekaterina Alexandrova acted as the perfect warm-up for a monumental contest vs Rybakina. The three-time Grand Slam semifinalist managed to beat the Wimbledon winning Kazakh 6-2 2-6 6-4.
