Arvid Lindblad's FIA Super License is not related to Max Verstappen's race ban penalty threat
Arvid Lindblad got himself his FIA super license earlier this month. Red Bull Racing were the ones who put in word with FIA to get him the super license. With his new super license, Lindblad can participate in Formula 1 practice sessions and races. He is among the few exceptions to the 18 year old threshold introduced by FIA for racing in Formula 1.
The approval of his license was also good news for Red Bull Racing. They were on the edge with Max Verstappen’s race ban. Lindblad has been proving himself as a great asset in the junior series for Red Bull Racing. The team can easily promote him to the higher series if need arises. They are still facing difficulties in driver management. Isack Hadjar and Max Verstappen are the only performing drivers at Red Bull Racing and Racing Bulls. The team dynamics of both teams need to be improved so that they can challenge for better standings in the championship.
Arvid Lindblad’s license was approved at a crucial time. This led to many speculations. He was also considered as a part of the driver roster which maybe called upon for replacing Max Verstappen. But, the F2 driver has confirmed that it was a mere coincidence. He was not informed of any such decision by Red Bull Racing.

“I mean, the Super Licence was requested in February. So I think it’s much more of a coincidence that it’s kind of been approved at a time when Max is a bit on the edge with the points. But I don’t know what the plan would be if something were to happen.”
It is rather obvious that Red Bull Racing won’t send Lindblad directly to the main seat. They have Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson for replacing Max Verstappen. At most, Lindblad will get a seat in Racing Bulls for the weekend if Verstappen gets a race ban.
Arvid Lindblad was rather humble when asked about comparisons with Max Verstappen. He was rather focused on his current results and did not respond with over confidence. Lindblad has been the best performing driver in the Red Bull junior programme currently.
I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university's Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
