FIA Grants Special Exemption to Arvid Lindblad for Super License!

FIA and Red Bull Racing bring Arvid Lindblad to the big leagues

Arvid Lindblad is in his debut season in the Formula 2 racing series. Lindblad is claiming a superb run and is third in the driver standings in the championship. The Red Bull junior is quickly racking up points. He won his second F2 race by winning the Barcelona Feature Race earlier this June.

Red Bull Racing are already pulling favors for their newest recruit in F2. Earlier, Kimi Antonelli was able to get himself super-license due to his talents before the 2025 season. Now, Arvid Lindblad will be joining the young Italian with his Super-license exception. Lindblad is a part of Red Bull Junior Driver programme since 2021. He was hailed as an “exciting young talent” by Christian Horner.

Arvid Lindblad Gets Super-license on Red Bull Racing’s Request

The FIA Super-license rules are pretty simple. Any driver racing in the junior categories, needs to be 18 years of age and hold a valid driving licence to get a Super-license. However, FIA makes exception to the rules in case-

“At the sole discretion of the FIA, a driver judged to have recently and consistently demonstrated outstanding ability and maturity in single-seater formula car competition may be granted a Super Licence at the age of 17 years old.”

Lindblad’s new license grants him the permission to participate in a Friday practice session or Grand Prix weekend. Red Bull Racing were quick to put in the request on behalf of their junior driver. FIA had no problems in approving their requesting helping Lindblad gain the advantage even with his young age.

Red Bull Racing are aggresive with their Junior drivers. Owing to their strategies, Max Verstappen joined F1 in 2015 becoming the youngest ever to compete in Formula 1. Fast forward to 2025, Max Verstappen is a four-time F1 champion and Red Bull Racing’s best driver to date. The team doesn’t want to let go of this opportunity with Lindblad, who is consistently showing his talent in the 2025 Formula 2 season.

Red Bull Racing are still facing troubles with their second driver. If at all they choose to make changes to their lineup once again, Arvid Lindblad will be their obvious choice. Nico Rosberg did issue a warning to Isack Hadjar to reject a promotion to Red Bull Racing but the future is still uncertain.
