Alvaro Morata’s Return to Italy Nears Completion with Como

The longest transfer saga of the Italian summer is reaching a conclusion, with Alvaro Morata on the verge of joining Como 1907. The Spanish forward is set to reunite with head coach Cesc Fàbregas after protracted negotiations involving three clubs — Como, AC Milan, and Galatasaray.

Morata’s future had been uncertain for weeks, with Galatasaray’s involvement proving the most complicated obstacle. The Turkish side had invested €6 million earlier this year to secure the player’s loan from Milan and were reluctant to lose that outlay without compensation.

Agreement Reached with Alvaro After Complex Talks

Following a new round of talks, an agreement was reached that satisfies all parties. Como will reimburse Galatasaray €5 million to terminate the existing loan agreement, allowing the Spanish striker to leave Turkey. In addition, AC Milan will receive €1 million from Como for a one-year loan deal, plus an obligation to buy Morata for €9 million at the end of the season.

The total package is expected to cost around €15 million, factoring in the settlement with Galatasaray and the eventual transfer fee to Milan. This move will see Morata return to Italy, having previously represented Juventus during two separate spells.

The acquisition of Morata underlines Como’s ambition since Fàbregas took over as head coach. The club has been actively strengthening its squad this summer in preparation for the upcoming Serie A campaign. Morata’s experience at the highest level — including stints with Real Madrid, Chelsea, Atlético Madrid, and Juventus — is seen as a major asset for a side aiming to establish itself in the top flight.
