Islam Makhachev had been the former Lightweight title holder in the UFC. However, he has vacated it since then and moved up to the Welterweight division. The fight was potentially supposed to have been in Perth. However, more recently Ali Abdelaziz, has rejected the potential location of the fight. Ali Abdelaziz is better known as Islam Makhachev’s manager. He more recently appeared in Submission Radio. There he was asked about the location of the fight between Jack Della Maddalena and Islam Makhachev. He responded –
“Islam Makhachev vs JDM might not be in Abu Dhabi, but it won’t be in Perth either. UIt will be toward the end of the year in New York or Las Vegas”.
Ali Abdelaziz further revealed the reason for his comment. He stated that this will be a big enough fight. Hence he believes that it will either be in Madison Square Gardens in New York or in Las Vegas as per reports. Verdict MMA App posted his comments in their official Instagram post. Islam Makhachev notably, had fought once before in Perth at UFC 284. He successfully retained his Lightweight against Alexander Volkanovski, the Featherweight title holder back then. Jack Della Maddalena has stated that he will avenge Volkanovski’s loss when he fights Islam Makhachev.
Islam Makhachev has dominated the Lightweight division in the UFC since 2016. He has only suffered one loss in his UFC career so far. He has rebounded and is presently undefeated with 15 wins in his career so far. He also became the Lightweight title winner at UFC 280. He decided to vacate the title and move up to the Welterweight division on May 14, 2025. This is due to his upcoming Welterweight title fight against Jack Della Maddalena.
Jack Della Maddalena and Islam Makhachev are undefeated in their UFC careers so far. The fight between them can become a spectacle when they finally step inside the Octagon. However, one undefeated career will be ending in this fight. Fans will have to wait and see who becomes the unfortunate one.
