Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz have already faced each other twice this year. The 28-year-old German is a three-time Grand Slam runner-up, and has one title to his name this year. He won the BMW Open in Munich, and also finished as a finalist at the Australian Open and in Stuttgart. Zverev is a former Olympic gold medalist, and has been ranked as high as No. 2 in the world. Since his Round of 32 exit at the US Open, Sascha has won 3 matches and lost 4 of them. Yet, his impressive 48-21 record speaks volumes of his mental fortitude.

When it comes to American men’s tennis, Fritz is the poster-boy. A former finalist at Flushing Meadows, the 27-year-old led Team World to an iconic Laver Cup triumph in September. During the grass court swing, Fritz picked up two titles in Stuttgart and Eastbourne. The World No. 4 was also the runner-up in Tokyo, and displayed supreme consistency with semifinal finishes at big events like Wimbledon, Miami Open and Canada Masters. Fritz has garnered an incredible 50 tour-level wins in 2025 – including a 90% success rate on his own service games.
Taylor Fritz has a 9-5 record in the head-to-head against Alexander Zverev. He has won the last six encounters against the German powerhouse.

Among the top ranked players in the world, it can be argued that Taylor Fritz is one of the most in-form players. The American peaked at a very high level at the Laver Cup, and followed it up by wreaking havoc at the Japan Open. One of the criticisms against Zverev’s game is his inability to take charge and finish off points – something that Fritz might look to exploit. Unless the World No. 3 is not afraid to go for the lines and attack the net to keep the rallies short, it will be Fritz who is likely to advance.
Prediction: Taylor Fritz in three sets.
While the odds market is constantly fluctuating for this battle, Taylor Fritz (3/5) has a slight advantage against underdog Alexander Zverev (13/10). According to the implied probability on the money line, Fritz’s 61% likelihood of emerging victorious gives him the edge. Given below are the result odds and set-specific events (as per BetMGM):
