Zverev carries momentum into Turin battle with newly confident Felix Auger-Aliassime
Third Seed Alexander Zverev is set to clash with the eighth seed, Felix Auger-Aliassime, in the ATP Finals 2025. Zverev’s season is built on volume and week-to-week reliability, making deep runs in almost all of the events he participated in. But obviously not flawless, and a few inconsistencies popped up as well. Munich delivered his lone title, but the bigger story was his repeated presence in finals, including Stuttgart, Melbourne, and Vienna, and semifinal pushes in Halle, Toronto, Cincinnati, and Paris.
Even the quarterfinal stops in Argentina, Rio, Rome, Roland Garros, and Beijing fit the pattern of a player refusing to fade. A few early exits aside, his numbers back the narrative with 556 aces, 74% first-serve points won, and a 41% conversion rate across 524 break points.

Auger-Aliassime, meanwhile, enters these Finals through a door he never expected to open. Musetti’s loss in Athens placed him in the draw, but the Canadian’s season has been interrupted and unexpectedly resilient, both. Titles in Adelaide, Open Occitanie, and Brussels came in spite of toe and back issues that wiped out his spring schedule and forced withdrawals from Rotterdam, Rome, and Basel.
When healthy, he produced finals in Dubai and a semifinal surge in Doha, Hamburg, and the US Open. His Paris Masters run, ended only by Jannik Sinner, was his strongest closing statement. Stat-wise, he has fired 749 aces, won 77% of first-serve points, and converted 33% of 523 break points.

Alexander Zverev leads Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-3 in their head-to-head. Zverev stamped his authority early, sweeping their first three meetings in Monte Carlo and Beijing in 2019, followed by Cologne 1 in 2020, establishing the matchup on his terms. Auger-Aliassime finally broke through at Wimbledon 2021 in a five-set classic, but the shift didn’t last long. Zverev answered later that season in Vienna, reasserting control just as the Canadian seemed poised to close the gap. Since then, they’ve traded blows more evenly, with FAA landing the most recent strike at this season’s US Open, in four sets.

Zverev’s superior consistency, stronger return metrics, and a 6-3 head-to-head advantage make him the clear statistical favorite. With deeper runs across the season and a more reliable baseline game, Zverev should come through in straight sets.
See you in Torino! 🇮🇹

Prediction: Alexander Zverev in straight sets
Auger-Aliassime’s late-season surge and recent Paris finals run give him a dangerous underdog aura, especially if his serve catches fire early. But Zverev’s rhythm, experience in tight indoor battles, and overall strong season tilt the storyline toward the German.

My journey into sports media began far from the field, rooted in the arts and sciences. Funny enough, I didn’t grow up a sports fan; I used to see it all as just noise. But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
