This victory marked Volkanovski as the first fighter to win the title coming off of consecutive losses and also the first fighter over 35 to win a UFC title at 155 pounds or below. Volk also became only the second fighter to hold the featherweight belt twice, joining Jose Aldo. Post-fight Volk went on to talk about who he may or could potentially fight next in his UFC career. Let’s find out what he said.
Volk shared his thoughts after the UFC 314 win and he said that he didn’t see featherweight title rematch against Yair Rodriguez immediately in the near future. The new featherweight champion of the UFC had previously taken on Rodriguez at UFC 290, where he knocked out Rodriguez in the third round of the contest. However, Rodriguez had an amazing victory over Patricio Pitbull, which may have earned him another shot at Volkanovski.
Pitbull claimed that he is a “completely different,” fighter than what he used to be and added that he felt like he can beat Volk, if the rematch were to happen.
The featherweight division doesn’t have many contenders as of this moment, outside of Rodriguez Movsar Evloev, who Volk hasn’t fought yet. After the fight, Evloev immediately showed respect and admiration for Volkanovski. However, Evloev also wasted no time in calling out the featherweight champ.
Congratulations on an excellent performance, you’re a true champion! Now let’s see what your word is worth! @alexvolkanovski #UFC314

Volk stated “I’ll leave everything to the UFC.” Volkanovski shared his thoughts during the post-fight press conference, “Obviously you’ve got guys like Movsar who’s undefeated. I would love to take that zero… We’re gonna see what the UFC say.”

mma I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
