Three home runs, one historic night
It was a night of milestones, magic, and a little disbelief for Jasson Dominguez.
Just eight months ago, Dominguez was lying low, rehabbing from Tommy John surgery after a whirlwind debut in 2023 that included a home run on his very first MLB swing. That brief but electric stint, four homers in eight games, was cut short when a torn UCL in his elbow was diagnosed on September 10, just days after his call-up. His rookie season ended almost as quickly as it began, and his 2024 campaign didn’t begin at all, with Dominguez spending the first half on the 60-day injured list.

The Yankees brought him back to the big leagues late that year, but Dominguez struggled to find his rhythm. He batted .179 over 56 at-bats and looked shaky in left field. The spark he showed in 2023 felt distant.
Then came May 9, 2025.
In front of a stunned, sellout crowd at Sutter Health Park, the A’s temporary home in Sacramento, Jasson Dominguez made franchise history. With a solo shot from the right side, a two-run blast from the left, and finally, a grand slam in the eighth inning, the 22-year-old became the youngest Yankee ever to hit three home runs in a single game.

“No way,” Dominguez said to himself as he circled the bases after his third homer, still trying to wrap his head around what he’d just done. “There’s no way.”
There was, in fact, a way, and it was unforgettable. The grand slam capped off a 10-2 Yankees win and made Dominguez just the third player in MLB history to homer from both sides of the plate and include a grand slam in a three-homer game, joining only Bill Mueller (2003) and Aaron Hicks (2018).
He also surpassed a pretty notable name in Yankees lore: Joe DiMaggio. The Yankee Clipper was 22 years and 200 days old when he recorded a three-homer game in 1937. Dominguez did it at 22 years and 91 days.

For Jasson Dominguez, amidst everything, he had a day of many firsts. Many firsts he’ll always remember. His first homer from the right side, his first three-homer game, and his first grand slam.
“Tonight was special. A very special night that I will remember.”
