The Argentine Winger Is Reportedly Keen on a Stamford Bridge Switch, but Complications Remain.
In their way to revamp the squad, Manchester United are offloading a number of players. Alejandro Garnacho has been one of them and his future continues to be a mystery. Recently, multiple reports have emerged that the Argentine winger has his sights firmly set on Chelsea.
According to renowned journalist Matt Law via The London Is Blue Podcast, the Argentine is highly interested in a move to Stamford Bridge. Law revealed, “I’m told Garnacho wants Chelsea, wants to stay in the Premier League, and ideally play in the Champions League like most players do. He’s set his heart on Chelsea if possible!”

It was his priority in January and he’s still keen on the move this summer.

The 21-year-old is not part of Manchester United’s ongoing pre-season tour in the United States. He is believed to be among those players manager Ruben Amorim considers surplus to requirements. Garnacho is part of what’s been termed United’s ‘bomb squad’.
It includes players who have been identified for potential sale as part of the club’s ongoing rebuild under Amorim. Chelsea, for their part, are planning a squad capable of handling Champions League demands. They’ve already brought in Jorrel Hato, Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro.
The Blues are also working on a deal for RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons, with negotiations reportedly in an advanced stage. Reportedly, the London club want up to nine attacking options for rotation. Especially with Noni Madueke and Joao Felix already departing and Christopher Nkunku also expected to leave.

One major stumbling block is Garnacho’s price tag. Manchester United value Garnacho significantly higher than Chelsea’s reported £30 million offer. Simultaneously, Chelsea have placed an £80 million valuation on their striker Nicolas Jackson. It’s a figure United consider inflated.
Especially in discussions about potential swap deals. Reports from The Independent suggest that United have explored potential trade deals involving Garnacho, Nicolas Jackson, and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins. Notably, Garnacho is still being courted by clubs like Napoli and Spurs.

Even so, as per the journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, it is understood that the Argentine considers Chelsea his ‘priority’. The Red Devils have also been scouting for replacements. They’ve been targeting players like Benjamin Sesko, Morten Hjulmand, and Joao Palhinha.
However, any new arrivals depend heavily on outgoings like Garnacho. As of now, Chelsea have not submitted any formal for Garnacho. However, all signs point to a late-window move. Reportedly, Garnacho’s camp is pushing for the switch to be finalized before the Premier League season begins.
