With Top European Clubs Circling, Gianluigi Donnarumma Faces an Uncertain Summer in Paris.
Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future at Paris Saint-Germain has entered a period of serious uncertainty. The Italian goalkeeper is entering the final year of his contract and renewal negotiations have stalled. He provided some standout performances during PSG’s recent Champions League-winning campaign.
This includes heroic displays against Arsenal in the semi-finals. Even so, no agreement seems to be in sight. Added to that, PSG are close to bringing in Lucas Chevalier from Lille which adds further pressure. Hence, PSG could consider selling Donnarumma this summer.

If they delay the sale for next year, they will have to let go of a talent like him as a free agent. There is a lot of chatter that Chevalier may become PSG’s No. 1 as soon as the coming season. He fits the club’s renewed emphasis on recruiting domestic talent.
Hence, his arrival could see Donnarumma relegated to the bench if he stays in Paris. Notably, manager Luis Enrique has publicly backed Donnarumma, saying, “Donnarumma has a lot of experience, we are very happy with Gigio.” However, that has not translated into contractual progress.
Both Manchester United and Chelsea have shown interest in Donnarumma. However, their pursuits come with complications. The Red Devils made initial enquiries earlier in the summer, driven by dissatisfaction with Andre Onana’s performances.

However, Donnarumma’s high wages and PSG’s potential transfer fee remain major obstacles for the Manchester club. According to journalist Marc Mechenoua, United would need to offload several high earners still to reduce their wage bill further to bring in Donnarumma.
Chelsea, meanwhile, continue to search for a long-term solution in goal. Notably, their No. 1 Robert Sanchez won the Best Goalkeeper award at the recent Club World Cup. Even so, Sanchez has lacked consistency, and Chelsea are not waiting around with the season fast approaching.
They had earlier failed in a bid for AC Milan’s Mike Maignan. While the Blues have been linked with Donnarumma, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that “no talks are ongoing at this point” between the Italian goalkeeper and the London-based club.

Meanwhile, Galatasaray have also emerged as a surprise contender. The Turkish champions are seeking a high-profile replacement for Fernando Muslera. Reportedly they have the financial muscle to afford Donnarumma’s wages. However, it remains doubtful whether Donnarumma would move to the Super Lig at the peak of his career.
Saudi clubs, including Al Ittihad, are also monitoring the situation and are even willing to offer €20 million per year. However, Donnarumma appears reluctant to exit European football just yet. With the season fast approaching and PSG yet to resolve his contract, Donnarumma’s future remains clouded in uncertainty.
