Max Verstappen isn't going to comment on Mercedes contract rumors
Max Verstappen and his stint at Red Bull Racing in 2025 is going from bad to worse. The Dutchman is lagging behind in the driver’s championship by a massive margin. Additionally, Verstappen has to combat the media nearly every race weekend about some new theories and speculations. The entire month of June, Verstappen spent avoiding the media. They were constantly disturbing him about a lingering race ban penalty.
Now, the media have shifted their focus to his contract. Max Verstappen and his issues with the RB21 challenger are no secret. Verstappen himself is under confident with Red Bull Racing’s car. A new report from Sky in Italy is creating chaos in the paddock recently. Ahead of the British GP, there is a lot of talk going on about Max Verstappen’s next F1 team. The media seem to believe Verstappen might end up joining Mercedes F1 for the next F1 season.
A move to the Silver Arrows is the hottest topic concerning Max Verstappen and his F1 career. Verstappen was interviewed ahead of the media day on Thursday during the British Grand Prix weekend. The Dutchman has been rather silent in front of the media this entire season. Once again he did not comment about the recent rumours in front of the media.

“I have nothing to add. What I said last week. Other people write stuff, that’s great but it’s not for me. You can always say the grass is always greener on the other side, that’s what they say right? I think you always have to just stay calm, enjoy also what you’re doing because I think up until now I’ve had a lot of success and of course this season is maybe not what we wanted as a team but that can happen as well.”
Max Verstappen has been racing for the Austrian outfit since 2015. Until the 2024 season, he enjoyed a successful run with Red Bull Racing. Max Verstappen won all four of his championships with Red Bull Racing. He has two wins for the season in 2025. Verstappen counts on the fact that his team will make a comeback in the upcoming season. The Dutchman believes that it is better to focus on the race, rather than chasing the fastest car.
On the other hand, George Russell is rather relaxed about his contract. He has made it clear that the stories prevailing in the media aren’t going to worry him whatsoever. As Formula 1 prepares for the British Grand Prix, the stories revolving around Verstappen, Russell and their contracts keep becoming rather complicated.
nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
Message to Readers: I promise you one day you’ll see me managing operations on track with a Formula 1 team ; )
