Casper Ruud Injury Update: Former World No. 2 Withdraws from Wimbledon With a Knee Injury

Gulshan Sharma

Casper Ruud faced second-round exits in the Wimbledon in last three editions.

Former world No. 2, Casper Ruud is going to miss the 2025 Wimbledon championship due to a knee injury. The Norwegian has decided to withdraw from the grass-court Grand Slam tournament. The recovery process will take longer time and Rudd is planning to make a return in the US Open. However, the update on his return is not confirmed yet.

Casper Ruud recently decided to not compete in the ATP Mallorca due to the same injury suffered in the first round of the 2025 Roland Garros. It’s going to be a big blow to the competition as some other big names opted out from the third Grand Slam of the year due to injury. Rudd now eyes comeback in the North American hard court swing, which ends with the season’s last Grand Slam, US Open.

Casper Ruud Joins Nine More Players to Withdraw from Wimbledon

This year’s Wimbledon will not be the same. The first major change will see Live Electronic Line Calling (Live ELC) introduced at The Championships this year and the second major change is missing many top players in men’s singles due to injury. Casper Ruud is the latest name to the list of the players who made withdrawal from Wimbledon.

Casper Ruud faced second-round exits in the Wimbledon in last three editions. The Norwegian was looking promising good but injury in the French Open hurt his preparation. He reached his third Masters 1000 final at the Mutua Madrid Open this year and then got better of 5th seed Jack Draper in the final to claim his first big title this year.

Just one day back, Arthur Fils confirmed his withdrawal from the Wimbledon due to lower back stress fracture. Sebastian Korda decided to withdraw from Wimbledon due to shin stress fracture. Kei Nishikori is already going through a recovery process. Alejandro Tabilo will also not play in the championship due to a grade-three abdominal muscle tear. Apart from them, Juncheng Shang, Zhizhen Zhang, Emil Ruusuvuori, and Nick Kyrgios are the players who made withdrawal from the Wimbledon.
