Arthur Fils needs more time to get recover from his lower back injury.

French number one Arthur Fils has decided to withdraw from the 2025 Wimbledon championship on Saturday. Fils is making a recovery from a back injury that forced him out of the French Open. The French ace pulled out from the third round clash against Andrey Rublev due to lower back sprain.

Fils, ranked 15th in the world, also required a medical treatment during his second-round victory against Jaume Munar in the Roland Garros. The Frenchman fought hard to survive in a five-set thriller but he couldn’t get ready for the next round clash and Rublev got a walkover.

Arthur Fils Joins Sebastian Korda and Kei Nishikori to Miss Out 2025 Wimbledon

Arthur Fils needs more time to get recover from his lower back injury. The French No. 1 would look to make a comeback in the US Open. Fils progressed to the last 16 at Wimbledon last year and it remains his best performance in the grass-court grand slam.

Fils had a roller-coaster ride in the ongoing season. The Frenchman had a third round run in the 2025 Australian Open run where he lost to Ugo Humbert. The 21-year-old reached his first Masters 1000 quarterfinal at the Indian Wells and also reached his new career-high ranking of World No. 18. Later, he upgraded his ranking to No. 15.

He beat current world No. 3 Alexander Zverev to reach the Miami Open quarterfinals. With last-8 run at Miami. Fils became only the third Frenchman to reach the quarterfinals at both ‘Sunshine Double’ events in the same year.

Arthur Fils also joined Sebastian Korda, Kei Nishikori and Alejandro Tabilo to withdraw from the tournament. Korda decided to withdraw from Wimbledon due to shin stress fracture. Kei Nishikori, the 2014 US Open runner-up, is also out from the injury. He last played at the Geneva Open, retiring in the round of 16. Alejandro Tabilo had a grade-three abdominal muscle tear so he will also not participate in year’s third Grand Slam event.

The third Grand Slam of the 2025 season gets underway on 30th June. Carlos Alcaraz is the defending champion in the men’s category and Barbora Krejcikova is the reigning winner in the women’s category. Ethan Quinn, Christopher Eubanks, and Billy Harris will be the replacement for the players who decided to withdraw from this year’s Wimbledon.
