Two surprise names, Marketa Vondrousova and Wang Xinyu will take on each other for the title clash in the WTA Berlin Open on Sunday. Both players came through the qualifying round and beat world No. 1 and No. 2 in their respective campaign. Vondrousova knocked out Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals in straight sets, while Wang Xinyu got better of Liudmila Samsonova in another semifinals to reach maiden WTA finals.

Marketa Vondrousova had a dream campaign so far as she made into the first career grass-court final since the 2023 Wimbledon where she won the title by defeating Jabeur. The Czech Republican ace is ranked 164 in the world and was unseeded in the event. The 25-year-old dispatched top players such as Keys, Shnaider, Jabeur, and Sabalenka in a journey to the final.

Wang Xinyu is also going to play her dream final after a solid campaign which started from the qualifying round. The Chinese ace secured seven wins in the clinical Berlin Open campaign. She trashed world No. 2 Coco Gauff in the round of 16 which is her best career win. Wang dispatched Samsonova in the semifinals 6-4, 6-1 and also won the first set against Badosa before getting a walkover win in quarterfinals. The Asian tennis sensation will play her first WTA final on Sunday and the pressure will be high.
