Ryan Nembhard
Ryan Nembhard was born on March 10, 2003, in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, and also spent time in Aurora, Ontario. He is of Jamaican descent on his father’s side, Claude, and his older brother, Andrew Nembhard, also plays professionally for the Indiana Pacers in the NBA. Ryan attended Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida, for high school.
Nembhard’s college career began in 2021 at Creighton University. As a freshman in the 2021-22 season, he averaged 11.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. His second season (2022-23) at Creighton saw him improve, averaging 12.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game, which earned him the Big East Freshman of the Year award in 2021. After two seasons with Creighton, Nembhard transferred to Gonzaga University in 2023.
At Gonzaga, Nembhard continued to excel. In the 2023-24 season, he was named to the First Team All-WCC and set a single-season assist record for the team with 243 total assists. He averaged 12.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game. In his final college season (2024-25) at Gonzaga, he was again named to the First Team All-WCC and was the NCAA’s assist leader. He averaged 10.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game. Throughout his college career, both at Creighton and Gonzaga, Nembhard consistently demonstrated his skills as a point guard with strong passing abilities and a right-handed shot. He maintained impressive assist numbers, ranking 24th in the nation with 176 assists and 63rd with 4.8 assists per game in a recent season.
After his successful college career, Ryan Nembhard entered the 2025 NBA draft but was not selected. However, he quickly found a professional opportunity, signing with the Dallas Mavericks. He currently plays as a point guard for the Mavericks and wears jersey number 9. He is listed at 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in) and weighs 82 kg (180 lb). As of 2025, he began his professional playing career with the Dallas Mavericks and is also affiliated with the Texas Legends.
