UFC 320 Predictions – Patchy Mix vs Jakub Wiklacz Preview, Predictions And MMA Betting Odds

Zaid Quraishi

UFC 320 delivers a bantamweight clash between two former champions from different organizations. Patchy Mix vs Jakub Wiklacz features a struggling UFC newcomer against a confident KSW champion making his debut. This fight could define whether Mix belongs at this level or not.

Mix arrived in the UFC with serious expectations as the former Bellator bantamweight champion. ‘No Love’ had built an impressive 20-1 record before crossing over to the big leagues. His UFC debut against Mario Bautista might go down as one of the most underwhelming performances in recent memory. Mix looked completely lost, walking into Bautista’s jab repeatedly like he had never seen one before.

Wiklacz represents the next wave of European talent trying to make their mark. The Polish fighter comes in as the reigning KSW bantamweight champion with a solid 16-3-2 record. His three losses tell an interesting story. One came to Sebastian Przybysz, who Wiklacz then beat twice in rematches. The other two defeats happened way back at the start of his career against lesser competition. He’s currently riding a seven-fight undefeated streak that includes avenging that Przybysz loss.

Patchy Mix vs Jakub Wiklacz Preview

Mix (20-2) stands 5’11” with a 70 inch reach, excellent height for the bantamweight division. His striking output is absolutely wild at 8.13 significant strikes landed per minute, though his accuracy is poor at just 40%. The really concerning number is that he absorbs a staggering 11.53 strikes per minute with terrible 42% striking defense.

The grappling numbers for Mix show all zeroes across the board in his UFC appearance. Zero takedowns attempted, no accuracy data, no defense statistics. That’s because his debut was a pure striking battle where he got picked apart on the feet. We know from his Bellator career that Mix has solid grappling skills and submission ability, but none of that showed up against Bautista. At 32 years old as a southpaw, Mix should be in his prime years, which makes that debut performance even more troubling.

Wiklacz stands 5’10” with a 72 inch reach. Wiklacz has zero UFC statistics because this is his promotional debut. Every category shows blanks, leaving fans to rely on his KSW tape and reputation. At 28 years old fighting out of an orthodox stance, Wiklacz is three years younger than Mix with fresh legs and no UFC scar tissue yet.

Patchy Mix vs Jakub Wiklacz MMA Betting Odds

The betting markets still favor Mix despite his awful debut performance. According to FanDuel, Patchy Mix is listed at -320. Meanwhile, Jakub Wiklacz comes in at +260 as the underdog. Those odds suggest bookmakers think Mix’s bad debut was just octagon jitters rather than his true level.

The odds for the fight going the distance have also come out. The odds for the fight seeing the judges scorecards stand at -118. The probability of the fight ending before the final bell is lower and the odds (+108reflect that.

Patchy Mix vs Jakub Wiklacz Predictions And Picks

This fight presents a fascinating question about how we evaluate that Mix debut. Was it just nerves and adjusting to UFC competition? The Bautista fight showed Mix struggling with basic striking fundamentals, walking into the same jab over and over. That’s concerning for any fighter, let alone a supposed elite bantamweight. Mix does have grappling advantages if he chooses to use them. His Bellator career showed solid wrestling and submission skills that could trouble Wiklacz.

Wiklacz doesn’t carry the grappling pedigree that Mix has, which could be a problem if Mix decides to wrestle. But the Polish champion has looked sharp in KSW and knows how to win big fights. He’s three years younger with a reach advantage and zero pressure on his shoulders.

If we bet on the fight, we are going with Patchy Mix to win via unanimous decision.
