Who Is Coaching Carlos Alcaraz for the 2025 US Open Finals? Experts Behind His Game Plan for New York Finals

Inside Carlos Alcaraz’s coaching team shaping his US Open 2025 final

Carlos Alcaraz, the world No. 2 and perhaps the most in-form player of the 2025 season, arrives at the US Open finals with momentum on his side. Fresh off his Cincinnati triumph, where he lifted the trophy after Jannik Sinner’s retirement, the Spaniard now faces the monumental task of halting Jannik Sinner’s run. This will be the third consecutive Grand Slam, pitting them both against each other. Alcaraz, already a seven-time champion this year with a Roland Garros crown among them, is eyeing another major win. With 22 singles titles and six Grand Slams already to his name, the 22-year-old’s rise has been guided by a coaching team that blends experience and trust.

Who Is the Coach of Carlos Alcaraz?

Since 2018, Alcaraz has been under the wing of former world No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero, a French Open champion in 2003 who retired with 16 ATP singles titles and a career record of 479-262. Ferrero, who has coached players such as Alexander Zverev and Alex de Minaur, has been central to Alcaraz’s transformation from teenage prodigy to global star.

Ferrero recently reflected on his player’s growth, highlighting the maturity and mental resilience now evident in Alcaraz’s game. “It’s true that we’ve always known that he was very good in terms of his tennis, but the truth is that mentally I believe he’s better than ever in terms of concentration and solidity,” Ferrero told reporters. “In terms of maturity, he’s improved so much and mentally he has a much better understanding that tough situations are where you have to produce your best level.”

Ferrero was quick to downplay any notions of favoritism. He said, “We don’t have to obsess over Novak. Carlos has to focus on himself and try to push Djokovic to the limit until the match becomes physically difficult for him due to Carlos’s pace. Favoritism is out of the question. Carlos is playing spectacularly, with a lot of confidence, but I don’t dare say he’s the favorite.”

Other Coaching Entourage of Carlos Alcaraz

Alongside Ferrero, Alcaraz’s camp includes a strong supporting cast. Samuel Lopez, who joined the squad in December 2024 after guiding Pablo Carreno Busta and coaching at the Olympics, serves as second coach. Juanjo Moreno, his trusted physiotherapist and fitness coach, works daily to manage recovery and conditioning, supported by Fran Rubio. Dr. Juanjo Lopez, his longtime physician, ensures injuries are managed and that the Spaniard maintains peak health across a demanding schedule.

Alberto Lledo oversees strength and conditioning programs tailored to Alcaraz’s explosive athleticism, while agent Albert Molina manages the commercial side, securing sponsorships and media commitments that mirror his growing global stardom. On the practice court, his brother, Alvaro Alcaraz, serves as his hitting partner, keeping rhythm and consistency sharp ahead of big matches.

With Ferrero providing tactical insight, Lopez offering depth, and a fitness-physio unit ensuring resilience, the Spaniard’s setup has him primed for another high-stakes encounter. Against Djokovic, it will be not just Alcaraz’s brilliance but also the support of his entourage that could decide whether Flushing Meadows witnesses another seismic moment in tennis history.

My journey into sports media began far from the field, rooted in the arts and sciences. Funny enough, I didn’t grow up a sports fan; I used to see it all as just noise. But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
