Here's what Mattia Binotto had to say regarding Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari stint.
Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari are the most popular duo of the 2025 season. The seven-time champion’s arrival to Maranello is one of the biggest driver changes of Formula 1. Hamilton ended an immensely successful stint at Mercedes to join Ferrari for the 2025 season. But, things are not going well either of them. The 2025 season is a disaster for the Prancing Horses.
In the previous race, Lewis Hamilton was overtaken by Nico Hulkenberg’s Sauber. The moment was incredibly hurting for his fans. Even the commentators were shocked at the drama that unfolded between Hamilton and Hulkenberg. The fact that Hamilton is unable to bring in results is a factor towards his growing criticism. Experts and former drivers are taking a jab at Ferrari and Hamilton for the lack of pace being shown in every race weekend.
Mattia Binotto is the former team principal of Ferrari Formula 1 team. He led operations in the Maranello outfit until the end of the 2022 F1 season. Binotto was not linked to Formula 1 until the arrival of the Audi F1 project. He is now leading the Kick Sauber team- set to become Audi F1 in 2026. Binotto has been linked to Lewis Hamilton during his past years at Ferrari.
It is known that Hamilton made the call to stay with Mercedes when Ferrari were hiring for a replacement to Sebastian Vettel. In the recent years, there has been a huge change in scenario. Hamilton seems to be losing his confidence. The general consensus is that Ferrari is Lewis Hamilton’s last Formula 1 team.

Commenting about his arrival to Ferrari, Binotto claimed-
“Hamilton is a certain age. Ferrari took him when he was at the end of his career. The ideal would have been to be able to have it a few years earlier.”
The Briton was found repeating the words “I’m slow” many times this season. His lack of confidence is alarming for Ferrari who were looking forward to yet another championship.
Audi F1 team boss Mattia Binotto has expressed confidence in his previous team. He was initally refraining from commenting. However, Binotto’s prior experience with the team prompts him to think that Ferrari will be able to find their speed in 2025.
nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
Message to Readers: I promise you one day you’ll see me managing operations on track with a Formula 1 team ; )
